Cyrano de Bergerac was born on this day in 1619. Cyrano had a
huge proboscis. And his nose was big, too. The Alamo fell on this date in
1836. It was the biggest crash in Texas history until last year when Tim Duncan slipped on
a sweat spot in the Alamodome.
Michelangelo was born on this
date in 1475. It took Michelangelo four years to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
It would have taken longer, but he decided not to give it a second coat.
On this day in 1925 the first
packaged frozen food appeared in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was Clarence Birdseye who
invented the "deep freeze" process. In 1929 Birdseye sold out to the Postum
Company for $22-million in, you should excuse the expression,
cold cash.
Shaquille ONeal is 39
today. Shaqs doing great. He's playing good basketball,
hes making commercials, its his birthday. He feels so good he might even
practice his free throws.
Guam was discovered on this date
in 1521. What are the people called who live in Guam? Guamites? Guamians? Guamers?
Today is Michelangelo's 536th
birthday. Which is probably why we don't see him out and about much anymore.
Today's Exciting
Michelangelo Trivia Question: Michelangelo is best known for his immense artistic
work in the Sistene Chapel, but what else was he famous for?
Rob Reiner is 64 today.
Rob's been putting on some weight lately. He's starting to look less like Carl Reiner's
son and more like Dom DeLuise's younger brother.
Actor-director Rob Reiner was
born on this day in 1947. In the highly competitive world of show business Rob and his
dad, Carl Reiner, both have achieved stardom. First Carl came out on top, then Rob came
out on top -- and both are still doing well even without hair.
On this day in 1810 the Illinois
Legislature passed a law requiring the state's citizens to be vaccinated against various
diseases. This law established a precedent, and politicians have been sticking it to us
ever since.
History's dullest basketball game
was played on this day in 1930. In an Illinois high school game, Georgetown beat Homer
1-0. It couldn't have been worse if the ball had a flat. Copyright © 2011 by Joe
